Test Post

Test Post — Cathodic Protection Accessory

Test Post — Standard
Test Post — Alternative

The test post is an indispensable monitoring device in buried steel pipeline cathodic protection systems, providing a standard access point for pipeline protection potential measurement, current distribution detection and insulation performance judgment. Usually installed as a column along buried steel pipelines, it contains internal terminals and test cables that connect the pipe body, sacrificial anodes or ICCP systems, and reference electrodes to the test terminals on top.

By connecting a multimeter or data logger to the post terminals, maintenance staff can measure and judge protection potential, protection current, insulation joint effectiveness, stray current and other parameters — a key infrastructure for evaluating CP system status and pipeline safety.

Key Advantages

  • Standardized access: unified test terminals standardize potential and current measurement methods.
  • Long-term monitoring: one-time installation for long-term reuse, supporting periodic inspection and data accumulation.
  • Judgment basis: measurement data is the direct basis for judging whether CP meets standards and the pipeline is safe.

Core Features

From structural design to intelligent upgrade, every detail is built for long-cycle, high-reliability monitoring.

  • Multi-channel terminals: brass/stainless test terminal blocks inside support simultaneous multi-channel access of pipe potential, anode output, insulation joints and jumper cables, meeting composite monitoring needs.
  • Corrosion-resistant body: made of FRP, stainless steel or hot-dip galvanized steel; underground part resists soil corrosion, above-ground part resists UV aging, design life over 15 years.
  • Smart monitoring upgrade: intelligent posts integrate a data-acquisition module and wireless unit, automatically collecting protection potential remotely and uploading to the cloud for unattended real-time monitoring.
  • Identification & traceability: numbered plates and reflective warning strips ease on-site location and inspection; numbers can be linked to an asset-management system for full-lifecycle traceability.
  • Easy installation & maintenance: modular design for fast on-site assembly; openable junction box eases terminal wiring, testing and fault finding, lowering O&M cost.
